I was listening through the album "London Calling" by The Clash and came across a very interesting song. I have listened to it multiple times throughout my life, but I have just now noticed the undeniable reggae influence on The Clash. Please check out this youtube link which will lead you to the song.
Hope everyone is having a care-free and relaxing weekend. See y'all on Tuesday.

I love hearing the influences of different musical genres on one another. I also think it's interesting how reliant the youth cultures we've been discussing are upon music for identity building. To me, music seems like such a fluid concept to build an identity upon since it draws from so many sources. I guess it just goes to show that youth cultures are identities that evolve and change and swell and decline over time and space. It's great that you were able to hear an old tune in a new way!
ReplyDeleteThat is actually one of my talking points for class on Tuesday. It consists of what it is about music that is so incredibly appealing to us and influences people's decision on who they associate with. I like the way you put it, "a fluid concept to build an identity upon since it draws from so many sources".
